Welcome to Dave Borkowski Custom Rods, where I will take a functional approach to rod building, in working collaboratively with my customers to determine the rod that is best suited for them.

I will manufacture spinning and light casting rods.  The primary fishing that I do is in rivers for smallmouth bass, walleye, catfish, and other miscellaneous river dwellers.  Consequently, since this type of fishing is where the depth of my experience lies, I am choosing only to make spinning and light casting rods, as I believe I would be doing a disservice to consumers as well as the industry to manufacture rods for fishing in which I do not have experience, such as surf or flying fishing.

My goal is to be minimalist in my approach to making rods, namely "less is more" when I am building rods for myself and my customers.  To elaborate, I am a rod builder who advocates function over form, and I will only put on a rod what I believe belongs on a rod.  I will do minimal decorative features.  However, I do not work with thread art or butt wraps.  I acknowledge that it is truly an art form, which I respect.  In addition, I prefer to use quality components, which I see as money well spent.  I will always work with the customers to help them obtain items of their choice, particularly with respect to the brands of their preference.
